When you visit Gl. Avernæs, you can look forward to a taste of Funen - and you should look forward to it. At Sinatur, we care about sustainability in everything we do. This means, among other things, that we are active in the fight against food waste, we have the Organic Food Label in silver, and we let local ingredients in season set the menu. It doesn't matter at all, because we have some very unique farmers, producers and butchers.
Our pork is hook-matured 'Gourmet Pig' from Svendborg, which is characterized by beautiful marbling and good taste. Our lamb is 'South Funen Lamb' from Gudme, where a special meaty breed provides an absolutely fantastic taste experience. We get the freshly dug free-range potatoes from our neighbor Regnar, who is known far and wide for his fanatical approach to potato cultivation, and we get world-class cold-pressed rapeseed oils from our friend Peter from West Funen. Fortunately, we were able to continue like this, and hopefully you are in no doubt about that when you taste the food.
It only makes sense that we have the Organic Food Label in silver when we strive to run hotels with a sustainable mindset and on nature's terms. Organic farming is not only good for nature because organic farmers use less fertilizer, but according to the Danish Organic Association, also because there are 30% more wild animals and plants in and around the organic fields.
