When the focus on sorting matters

Sinatur is in the top 3 in Danish waste sorting

New figures from Marius Pedersen A/S show that we are well on our way to meeting the ambition of 80 percent of our waste to be recycled by 2025. Today, the recycling rate is up to an impressive 72%, which makes us one of Denmark's best companies when it comes to sorting waste.

Cardboard, clear plastic, hard plastic, glass, porcelain, wood, food waste, metal and milk cartons are thoroughly sorted every single day by our meticulous staff. Yes, even the soda capsules go into a waste bin by themselves, so they can be melted down and used for new purposes.

It takes time to sort waste, but we choose to do it because it is the only right thing to do - even though it may be cheaper from a purely financial point of view to just throw all the waste in a big, black bag. But we would rather engage in the fight to take care of nature and the world we live in.

No thanks to food waste

No thanks to food waste

We work purposefully to reduce our food waste and make better use of the entire raw material.
Since January 2020, all six Sinatur hotels have been working on an ambitious measurement program in collaboration with FoodWaste from eSmiley, which will give us an overview of what and how much is wasted, so that the process of minimizing it can be as efficient as possible.

We also require our suppliers to use recyclable and environmentally friendly packaging. And without their help and commitment, we will not reach our goal. And we also want to be able to inspire and learn from each other's experiences, so that together we become better at taking extra care of the foundation for our children and grandchildren's future.

What happens to the waste?

What happens to the waste?

We sort out all smashed plates and coffee cups. The porcelain is reused for e.g. the central scaffolds on the motorway and for terror protection in the form of posts in front of buildings. All glass is melted down, plastic is recycled in the plastics industry, while food waste is processed into liquid biomass, which district heating plants use for CO2-friendly heating. The residual product is spread out on fields, and in this way, the nutrients in the biomass are returned to nature as fertilizer for new foods.

At several of our hotels, we have replaced our regular conference chairs with this FALK chair, which is made of plastic waste, recycled bottles and recycled steel.

Sinatur is at the absolute top

Sinatur Hotel & Konference is at the very top. Top 3 as a minimum. This is shown by the green accounts that we submit to the six conference hotels every single month - and which help to inspire the employees to continue their thorough sorting work. 72 percent of Sinatur's waste is already recycled. That is impressive.
