Historical cultural walk

From 142,000 pairs of socks to a conference hotel

Experience the presence of history and the fantastic story of how the spinning factory Clasonsborg was transformed into Hotel Skarrildhus when we invite you on a guided historical cultural walk. The large Louis Poulsen embassy lamps in the living room are the natural starting point for the walk, which takes you on an adventure about royal grants, 142,000 pairs of socks, clothes for the army, violent fires and how the Danish Teachers' Association saved Skarrildhus from being demolished at the last minute in the 1960s.

The historical cultural walk also tells you the story of the shooting down of British bombers in World War II, Denmark's best salmon water, just as you experience Jørn Rønnau's artwork The Salmon, which is a gigantic 45-metre-long stone sculpture of the famous Skjern Å salmon.
